Nikro Coil Cleaning: The Miami Owner’s Guide

If your Nikro coil cleaning setup is down, here’s the straight answer: we stock Nikro-compatible coil cleaning components and complete the repair or replacement for $185 – $520 in most Miami homes, depending on your unit’s model and what actually failed. Most jobs are done in a single visit, and we carry the common failure parts on the truck. You’ll typically notice the problem when your coil cleaning attachment stops drawing solution, leaks at the connection points, or your Nikro machine’s vacuum pressure drops mid-job.

What we see in Miami more than anywhere else: corrosion at the chemical pickup fittings. Our humidity and the cleaning solutions themselves eat at brass and plastic fittings over time. We also see plenty of clogged spray tips from mineral buildup, because South Florida water is hard and leaves deposits behind. Roy Castellanos has been fixing Nikro equipment down here for over a decade now, and he’ll tell you the same thing: most failures aren’t the pump or the motor. They’re the small parts between the solution tank and the coil surface.

If you can’t explain the job plainly, you probably shouldn’t be doing it. So here’s the plain version of what fails, what it costs, and how we fix it.

Which Nikro Models This Applies To

We work on Nikro coil cleaning setups across the board: the CoilPro series, the CC-series coil cleaners, and the coil cleaning attachments that mate with Nikro negative-air machines like the WS series and the DB series. The compatibility gotcha most owners run into is the quick-connect size. Nikro uses both 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch quick-disconnect fittings depending on the model year, and the two are not interchangeable. If you grab the wrong fitting at a supply house, you won’t know until you try to snap it on and it won’t seat.

Here’s how to identify what you have: look at the data plate on the machine body, not the coil cleaning attachment itself. The model number there tells us which fitting series and hose diameter your unit was built with. If the plate is worn off, bring the attachment in or send a photo of the connection point. We can usually identify it from that alone. For Nikro equipment specifically, we recommend OEM fittings and check valves. The tolerances matter more than people expect on the quick-connects, and aftermarket versions tend to leak at the o-ring seat. For hoses, clamps, and spray tips, quality aftermarket parts work just as well and cost less. We’ll tell you which is which on the phone before we ever schedule the truck.

One note for transparency: Hollis Air Duct Miami is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Nikro, and we don’t claim to be. We just work on their equipment because it’s good gear, and because a lot of Miami contractors run it and need someone who actually knows the parts. We also stock parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier coil cleaning attachments when the job calls for it.

Signs Your Nikro Coil Cleaning Is Failing

Here are the five ways we usually see these systems let go, and what’s actually happening underneath each one:

  • Weak or uneven spray pattern. The tip is partially clogged with mineral scale, or the internal filter screen in the solution line is gunked up. In Miami, hard water accelerates this. We clean or replace the tip and screen, and we test the spray before we load the truck back up.
  • Solution leaking at the quick-connect fitting. The o-ring inside the connector has hardened or cracked. Florida heat speeds that up. A $4 o-ring is usually the fix, not a whole new hose assembly.
  • Pump runs but won’t pull solution from the tank. This is almost always a failed check valve or an air leak at the pickup tube connection. The pump itself is rarely the culprit. We test the line first, because replacing a pump that doesn’t need replacing is a waste of your money.
  • Chemical smell or fumes during use. A cracked hose or loose fitting is letting solution vapor escape. That’s a safety concern more than a performance one, and it’s worth fixing before the next job.
  • Machine loses vacuum pressure mid-cleaning. On Nikro units that combine vacuum and coil cleaning, a failed gasket or a clogged recovery filter reduces suction. It mimics a coil cleaning failure but often lives on the vacuum side of the machine.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s the honest pricing picture for Miami. A full coil cleaning attachment rebuild, parts and labor, runs $185 – $340 for most residential and light commercial Nikro units. A complete attachment replacement is $340 – $520. If the problem is only a hose and tip, you’re looking at $70 – $140 installed. What drives the range: whether your unit needs OEM Nikro parts or can take quality aftermarket equivalents, and whether we’re doing a simple swap or opening up the pump assembly.

Job Typical Range
Spray tip, o-ring, or hose replacement $70 – $140
Full attachment rebuild (parts + labor) $185 – $340
Complete attachment replacement $340 – $520

You get a written price before we touch the machine. No estimate that changes once the cover comes off. The repair itself is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the same part fails within a year, we come back at no charge. That’s in writing on every job.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check three things without opening anything dangerous: inspect the hose for visible cracks, look for dried chemical residue around the fittings, and confirm the quick-connect actually seats with a firm click. Anything past that, we’d say call us. The pump assembly and check valves live inside the chemical path, and opening that without knowing what you’re looking at usually turns a $100 repair into a $400 replacement.

Also straight talk: coil cleaning solutions are caustic. If you’ve been running a leaking fitting, there’s residue on the machine and possibly on your hands already. Don’t start pulling lines apart without gloves and eye protection, and if the system has been holding solution under pressure, let it bleed down first. We handle this every week across Miami, from Coral Gables condos to warehouse units out in Doral. Call (850) 660-3272 and we’ll get it sorted on the first trip.
